Harriers suffered their first league defeat of the season after two very contrasting halves of football.
The game started very brightly for Harriers and they dominated early possession and played some good football yet failed to capitalize creating very few chances. Reading got into the game but some resolute defending from Alex and Max S meant they were very difficult to break down and when they did get past Jack W was in outstanding form in goal. In the 22nd min a great individual run from Danny created an opening which he didn't pass up and slotted the ball into the bottom corner. 1-0 Harriers at HT and well deserved.
Harriers started the 2nd half slowly and were soon under constant pressure in the midfield area and mistakes started to creep in allowing Reading to equalise when they beat the offside trap.
Reading kept attacking in numbers and soon took advantage for their 2nd well worked goal. Harriers heads and energy levels dropped and they were unlucky to concede a 3rd when an attempted clearance looped back over the keeper.
Frustration crept in to our game and silly fouls kept the pressure on and ultimately resulted in a 4th from a well taken free-kick and Reading ran out well deserved 4-1 winners
Positives to be taken for the 1st half display and lessons learn for the 2nd half!
Some really good encouraging individual performances from Jack W, Danny, Alex and Max S but this weeks vote for Man of the Match goes to Alex Giddings
