An Introduction

Hi Everyone, You may have read the article posted a couple of weeks ago and following our last AGM, that I have decided to take the secretary role at Thatcham Town Harriers https://www.thatchamtownharriers.club/news/agm-update-2680632.html

Firstly I'd like to thank Karl Woodrow for his years of dedication, without which we would not have been able to survive. We all owe Karl a huge debt of gratitude for everything he has done. I just hope I can take on this role and do it as much justice as Karl did. They are large boots to fill but I will do my best for all.

I've been involved with the club now for about 5 years. Naturally I got involved through my eldest child's interest in playing football. I applied for my DBS, took my FA Coaching, Emergency First Aid and Welfare courses to be able to help manage the 2nd team. All of this can be done online now, so the pathway to coaching has become so much easier and faster as a result of COVID! I'm still involved with the U15s today and now have my youngest child training with the U10s. More recently I started up U6s and U7s age groups to generate feeder teams for seasons to come and I'm really pleased that Neal Murray has stepped up to manage the U7s and get them playing matches for the remainder of this season.

I'm proud to be involved with Harriers and I'll be around for some years to come, with my youngest child's involvement, so it made sense to me to help this club thrive into the future and take up the secretary role. I have stepped down from the equipment manager position. My first job in that role was to source another playing kit supplier and I think the Macron kit quality and design is impressive to all those that wear it. Martin Davey is taking over this role and I know he will do an excellent job in securing affordable yet quality equipment for us all to provide great coaching sessions for our players. I'm really impressed with all the volunteers, that give up their valuable time every week to provide grass roots football and allow so many players to enjoy the game. If you would like to join this great community and make sure this club continues to provide football for the ~170 players it supports, please get in touch.

I look forward to working with you all as we start to register teams in leagues for September!
